SCQG Logo Simcoe County Quilters' Guild

The guild began in January 1984 with 18 founding members. These women wanted to establish a group that would promote quality in quilting and to also expand their skills. From that simple beginning, the guild has grown steadily.

Our membership has a broad base of novice and experienced quilters, who enjoy working in traditional and contemporary designs, using either hand or machine applications. We study a variety of techniques, both old and new, from simple to challenging. We are always eager to hear speakers discuss current trends and new techniques.

We are also active members of our communities. As a guild we have supported a number of worthy causes from Women and Children's Crisis Centers, lap robes for Seniors homes, Seasons Centre for the Grieving Children to our Cuddle Quilt program that is run in conjunction with the various police and fire departments in Simcoe County.

While some of us only produce one or two pieces a years, others are constantly working on their creations—all of us recognize the beauty of this art form and like to share our enthusiasm and expertise.

Inclement Weather Procedure

In the past, when school buses were canceled, this meant our meeting was also canceled.  However, Simcoe County has implemented new weather zones for school bus cancellations this year.

These new weather zones have been determined with consideration to weather patterns, school catchment areas, routes that cross over catchment areas and special needs transportations.

The weather zones are North, South, Central and West.

Bus cancellation messages will be relayed in the following ways:

If weather is severe in only part of the County, then the weather zones will come into effect.  The media will announce: "All School Buses have been canceled in (NAME OF ZONE) Weather Zone".  If weather is severe throughout the entire County of Simcoe, then the media will announce: "All schools buses in Simcoe County are canceled".

The ANAF Hall is in the CENTRAL Zone of Simcoe County.

If the media reports bus cancellations in the CENTRAL zone, then the meeting will be canceled.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1:00pm
